A LeafySIM Europe eSIM covers 34 areas on one plan, and unlike most regional plans that includes the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Turkey, the three that usually catch people out. Install it from a QR code before you fly and it works across borders without swapping anything. Plans run 1GB to 50GB.

The mistake this plan exists to prevent

Most "Europe" eSIMs are really EU eSIMs. You land in Zurich, or you take the Eurostar to London, or you fly home via Istanbul, and the plan you bought stops working at the border because those three countries are not in the EU.

This one covers all 34 areas listed on this page, the UK, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Turkey, Ukraine and Liechtenstein included. Check the list against your actual itinerary before you buy, which is advice we would give you about any provider including us.

Where it stops. The Western Balkans are not covered, so Albania, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and North Macedonia all need their own plan. Neither are Andorra or Monaco. A Croatia to Montenegro road trip is the itinerary most likely to run into this.

When you should not buy this plan

If your trip is one country, buy that country's plan instead, because it is usually cheaper. Five gigabytes of Europe is $17.49. Five gigabytes of the United Kingdom is $8.99, Italy is $8.49. Two countries, buy both separately and check the total. Three or more countries is where this plan starts winning, and that is the honest rule rather than a sales line.

Where your Europe eSIM actually works

It connects to a local network in each country and switches as you cross borders, so the Rome to Florence train, the drive from Munich down to Salzburg and the Eurostar under the Channel all keep working without you touching anything. Coverage follows whichever national network carries the plan in that country, which means cities, motorways and rail corridors are comfortable and remote mountain and island areas are the usual thin spots.

How much data you need in Europe

A two week multi-country trip on maps, rail apps, translation and photos lands around 5GB, which is $17.49. The 3GB at $11.99 covers a long weekend across two cities. Go to 10GB at $28.99 for a month or heavy use, and the 50GB at $103.49 runs a 180 day window for a long stay. The 1GB at $4.49 runs 7 days.

What this plan does not do

Data only. No local number in any of the 34 areas, no regular calls, no SMS. Everything over data works normally, including WhatsApp, which is what most of Europe uses. Keep your home SIM switched on for bank codes with its data turned off.

What it costs next to roaming

Verizon's TravelPass and AT&T's International Day Pass both run $12 a day, so two weeks across Europe is $168 before you use a megabyte. The cheapest route a US carrier gives you is T-Mobile's 10 day International Pass at $50 for 15GB. The 5GB Europe plan is $17.49 and covers 34 areas.

Setting up your Europe eSIM before you fly

Buy it now and install on wifi at home. The QR code arrives by email, you scan it in your phone settings, and you leave the line off until you land in the first country. The plan holds a 180 day activation window. On landing, switch the line on and turn data roaming off on your home SIM, then leave it alone for the rest of the trip.

The networks you'll ride

Your eSIM connects to the destination's real carriers and picks the strongest signal automatically. We publish this because most resellers won't.

FAQ

Good to know before you fly

When does the clock start?

When your eSIM first connects to a network at your destination, not when you buy it and not when you install it. Install it before you fly, on your home WiFi; the plan starts when you land.

Can I top up if I run out?

Yes, on most plans, any time before it expires. Buy a top-up from your order page and it applies to the eSIM you already installed, no reinstalling required.

Is there a phone number included?

No, this is a data-only eSIM. Your own number stays active on your home SIM for calls and texts, and apps like WhatsApp and FaceTime work over data as usual.

When should I install it?

Before you fly, on your home WiFi. Every plan has a 180-day window to activate, and the clock does not start until you actually connect at your destination.
